“Draw Near to God and He Will Draw Near to You...” - James 4:8

Lesson 1

The Need for a Relationship with God

1. Why did God create us? (Acts 17:24-29)

2. Is God far from us so that we cannot seek Him and find Him? (Acts 17:27)

3. Why must a person who comes to God absolutely believe that He is real, without doubting His existence? (Hebrews 11:6)                   

Everyone Needs a Savior

4. What is sin? (1 John 3:4).

5. Do you consider yourself a good person? (Matthew 19:16-26 / Mark 10:17-27).

6. Are you “good enough” according to God’s standards of law to enter Heaven (Romans 3:19-20, 23)

7. To be right with God, what must every person be willing to admit? (Luke 18:9-14)

8. Are we sinners by nature or by choice? (Ezekiel 18:20; cf. Romans 7:7-12)

9. If God is truly a good and fair judge, then will He not judge people according to what they deserve (Psalm 89:14) and not show favoritism (Romans 2:11)?

Finding Peace with God

12. Can peace with God be found by living life as we please? (Isaiah 57:20-21)

14. Who made peace with God possible? (John 14:27; Colossians 1:18-20; Ephesians 2:12-18)

15. What does the blood of Christ do for us if we believe in Jesus? (Romans 5:1, 8-10)

God Draws Us Near to Him by His Son Jesus

16. Are there many ways to draw near to God? (John 14:1-6; cf. Hebrews 7:25)

17. Will the Lord force us or pressure us somehow to draw near to Him? (Psalm 110:1-3)
