Near to God
“No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught of God.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.” – John 6:44-45

Drawing Near to God “Draw Near to God and He Will Draw Near to You...” - James 4:8 Lesson 2 Drawing Near by Being Taught by God 1. To be taught by God, what must our attitude be? (Psalm 25:9) 2. God wants people who are as humble as children (Mat. 18:1-4). Why? In what way must we approach God like children? 3. How is it possible to have fellowship with God? (John 6:44-45)
Drawing Near by the New Covenant 4. What blessings came from the blood of Jesus (His death on the cross) according to Matthew 26:28? 5. When Jesus was crucified, what was also “nailed to the cross” that day? (Colossians 2:13-17) 6. Just how much of the Old Testament Law was “nailed to the cross” or taken away?(Colossians 2:14, 16; cf. 2 Cor. 3:1-11)
Drawing Near by a Better Covenant (Hebrews 8:6-8, 13) 7. Is Christ the mediator of a covenant that is superior to the old? (v. 6) 8. If nothing had been lacking in the first covenant (the Law of Moses), would God have replaced it with a second one (the Law of Christ)? (v. 7) 9. Were the people of Israel able to keep the laws of the first covenant? (v. 8) 10. Does the establishment of the new covenant make the old covenant obsolete? (v. 13; cf. Heb. 10:9-10)
The Last Will and Testament of Jesus Christ 11. What is a will? (Testament / Covenant) (Hebrews 9:15-17) 12. Every will must have a “testator” (i.e., the one who made the will). What must happen to the testator before the will can go into effect? 13. What “legacy” or gift did Jesus leave behind to those who belong to His will? (Luke 24:46-47) 14. What can cause us to be “cut out of the will” of Jesus Christ? (Galatians 5:1-4) 15. If I take a single law which is unique to the Old Testament Law (e.g., circumcision) and add it to the New Testament Law, will I be required to keep all of the Old Testament Law?
Drawing Near to God by the Power of the Gospel 16. Does the gospel have only some of the power to save us? (Romans 1:16; cf. 1 Corinthians 1:18; 2 Timothy 3:16-17) 17. Is the gospel complete, providing all the truth we need to please God? (Philippians 1:27; Jude 3; cf. Ephesians 4:5; 3:3-5; John 16:13) 18. Should we therefore listen to our feelings (Jeremiah 10:23; Proverbs 14:12) or even an angel (Galatians 1:6-10) to determine the will of God? 19. Can we partake of the blessings of the blood of Christ without submitting ourselves to the New Covenant (the gospel)? (Hebrews 10:26-31) 20. Are you willing to respect and obey everything the Lord Jesus has revealed for you in His New Covenant?
